In contemporary architecture, the circle exists in a kind of limbo. Only to be used with caution, it rarely goes unnoticed. Circles are a declaration of intent. In his essay Maarten Delbeke is rooting this condition in the long tradition of classicism, which has considered the circle as a paradigm of perfection.
